It’s true, it’s true. I’m just back (minutes ago) from the Press Club of the East Bay’s annual awards dinner and BAM-POW-ALAKAZAM, I won the award for Best Independent Blogger for this blog. No shite, Sherlock! I’ll post a photo of the award this weekend if I can figure it out.
Wait, if you’re here for the first time. Don’t judge me. Don’t be too harsh. I’ve been in the midst of wedding planning. All that stuff about cheese and bridesmaids’ dresses — please, indulge me. I’ve been married before, but haven’t done this wedding thing, as such, and all that. Just skip back a bit to the more intriguing bits about my deep thoughts on slavery and the prison abuses in Iraq and even deeper thoughts on raising teens and the value of a dollar back when I was knee-high to a grasshopper.
And don’t let this be your last visit. I swear. I’m really a fascinating person. No, seriously. Ask my friends. (Oh, friends…where are you…?)
It was most gratifying to win tonight, and I thank the judging committees around the US who did the honors, but I’m a bit behind in my usual diatribes. Tune in next week when I list the most recent abuses of my children — kids do say the darndest things…
Happy weekend. Praise Jah.
